Why You Should Get Your Furnace Cleaned
At JPS furnace & Air Conditioning, we understand that sometimes your furnace is not the top thing on your mind. It’s hard to keep on top of all the stuff at home in today’s hectic world. Maintaining your home is a just another thing on a long list of stuff to do. That’s why when something big breaks (like a furnace or air conditioning system) you might not be financially ready to deal with the situation.
At JPS, we think that regular tune-ups, maintenance, and proper installation are the way to get the most out of your home furnace and air conditioning system. To keep your furnace in a good working condition, you should be booking a furnace cleaning at least once a year.
Why Should I Hire a Professional to Clean My Furnace?
Furnaces are delicate machines, despite their big role in the house. Cleaning a furnace is not a matter of using the vacuum or hauling out the soap and water. Hiring a licensed HVAC professional is the only way to ensure that your furnace is cleaned properly. Never clean your furnace yourself or hire an unlicensed handyman.
What Happens When You Clean My Furnace?
Feel free to ask for a detailed list of what we will do when you call us to book an appointment. In general, we do the following:
- We check vents, grills, and door for blockage or sealing issues.
- We check filters, wiring, blower motor, and burners for everything from proper ignition and flame to debris (the blower wheel usually needs to be completely cleaned).
- We look for rust and corrosion in the wiring and heat exchange and perform an amp-draw test on the blower motor.
- We examine the drainage system externally and internally, and clean the drain and trap.
It may seem daunting to pay for a checkup when you don’t see anything wrong with your furnace, but it will save you money in the long run. If your furnace was installed by JPS, you are a member of the Comfort Club and are eligible for savings on regular maintenance and necessary repairs. Call us today to find out how we can help you extend your furnace’s life and save money!
